The view from the top of Marina Bay Sands Hotel is famous- but is it worth paying to go up to the Skypark Observation Deck? Some people think so, since it got the Tripadvisor Travellers Choice Awards in 2018! I've been many times, so scroll down for the pros and cons!
First thing to note is that entry to the Marina Bay Sands Skypark Observation Deck is free if you're staying at the Marina Bay Sands Hotel so why not go take a look? (You can also read my review of MBS here, to help you decide whether it's worth spending $1000 per night!)
Cost
Now if you're not staying at MBS, it'll usually cost around $35-39 to enter the Skypark. (depending on whether you're entering during peak or non-peak hours- you can click through for the prices.) The pricing system is a little complicated so bear with me.
The tickets are as such on regular days (as of June 2025):
Non-peak Price (10 am- 430 with 4 pm as the last entry): $$35
Peak Price (5 pm-10pm, 910 pm last entry): S$39
If you want to see the sunset, or to see the Spectra light show from the Skydeck, you need to go during peak hours.
Note: there's a discount if you have the (free) MBS Sands card or if you're eligible for a concession ticket (e.g. above 65 or a student etc)
In addition, there are sometimes special days where ticket prices for the Skylark go up. For example, when the Singapore National Day preview is being held, prices go up to S$46- I'm guessing this is because you have a good view of the fireworks from the deck. (This usually happens once at the end of July and once at the beginning of August.)
What You Get
OK now that we've got the tiered pricing system out of the way, let's look at what you get for your ticket.
Basically, the Skypark ticket only covers entry to the deck- no drinks or food, though there is a stand where you can buy some snacks. From the deck, there's an almost 360 degrees view of the Singapore skyline and waters.
Mobility tip: I like how there is plenty of seating on the Observation deck so if you're less mobile, it's not an issue. It's also a nice place to sit and enjoy the breeze.
Whether that's worth it or not will depend on how much you value the view! For example, I used to tell people that I preferred to use the money for the ticket to go to Ce La Vie or Lavo for a drink instead as you get a similar view. However, a friend pointed out that you can't go right to the edge at Ce La Vie (as Ce La Vie is in the middle (and elevated) of the observation deck.) True! (And LAVO is at the other end of the building, so you don't see exactly the same city-scape.
To me, a view is a view- you can get an equally good one for free elsewhere so I only pay to enter the Skydeck if the people who visit me are adamant on it.
In fact, if you're staying at the MBS hotel, I recommend going for the sunrise wellness classes instead. They're held on the same Skypark, there are no crowds, you get to enjoy the sunrise, and start the day on a good note!
Note: the Skypark exercise classes are also open to the public for a fee (they're free for guests and range from yoga to some-sort-of-modern-dance (where you're told to move like you're a bird etc....) However, I don't recommend that option because I once booked a class and was told they'd forgotten to tell me it wasn't on because they were hosting a corporate event instead! (In addition, they can also be cancelled because of weather conditions,) If you're travelling to MBS for the class, you might need to wake up at 6am to get there on time, so it's SUPER annoying if they're cancelled with no notice!
Facilities
As mentioned above, there's a small snack stand on the MBS observation deck.
There are also toilets, right next to the lifts, if you need them.
Expert Tips
Time needed: it only takes about 5 minutes to walk around the deck so it depends on whether you want to sit down, and how much time you need to admire the surroundings.
However, note that there's usually a queue to get tickets and enter (but it usually moves fast.)
Personally, I think "Sunset in the Sky" is a more special experience if you want to enjoy the Skypark. For about S$108-S$118, you get:
- priority access to the SkyPark
- Exclusive seating, photobook, and guided tour
- Chocolates & Champagne (& the option to add food to the deal)
How to Get There
The ticket booth and entrance for the MBS Skypark are located near Tower 3. If you're taking a cab over, there's a drop-off point right beside it.
