8 Ways to order Food Delivery in Korea without a Korean phone number

If you've watched Korean dramas, you'll definitely have seen the leads ordering Korean food delivery- especially chimaek (fried chicken and beer)- and making it look so appetising! It used to be difficult to order food delivery in Korea without a local phone number, but thankfully there are ways around that now.

Food I took away from COEX mall to my room.

Baemin App

This app seems to have a wider range of choices than the other apps on the list.

It may ask for your nation ID though, which not everyone is comfortable sharing.

Shuttle App

Shuttle has been around for a few years but some people feel that the selection on Shuttle can't compare to Baemin.

Do note that without a Korean phone number, you won't have real-time tracking of your order.

Get a Korean SIM card

You can get a Korean SIM which gives you a Korean phone number.

However, even if you have a Korean phone number, some apps will ask for an ARC (Alien Registration Card) so thankfully there are the hassle-free ways below.

Chingu Mobile

Whilst a Korean phone number is preferred, you can still place an order here without one.

Naver Map Eats

This is the newest method on the list- I'll update again once I've tried it!

Coupang Eats

Use your hotel's phone number!

Check with you hotel- some allow you to use their number (not all do) which will make your life a lot easier!

Ask Hotel staff for help

I've heard of people asking the staff at hotels to order for them (they pass them cash) but personally I don't like putting people on the spot like that so have never tried it. (They may feel like they can't say no to you.)

Calling the restaurant directly

Korean Corn Dog in Myeong-dong.
Street food in Myeong Dong.

If you're staying in a busy tourist area such as Myeong Dong, some restaurants will accept orders over the phone. (You may need the help of the hotel staff to translate!)
