Spending the weekend in Suwon? Here are the best hotels in Suwon based on my EXTENSIVE research for my 3-day stay in 2026. (I live in terror of bed bugs, dirty hotel rooms, or rooms where the aircon/ heating temperature is centrally controlled so I always do tons of research before booking anything!)

Courtyard by Marriott Suwon (4.4 **** on Google)

Courtyard by Marriott Suwon is connected to Suwon Convention Centre and Galleria department store. (You are also near Gwanggyo Lake Park, a Lotte outlet, Avenue France (outdoor shopping plaza with an Emart in basement) and convenience stores.)

Courtyard by Marriott is where I chose to stay when I was in Suwon as:
- it was more convenient to get there from Hongdae Seoul, using the subway (involves 1 change. If you are coming in via KTX, Four Points may be better.)
- rooms looked most modern and nicest
- VERY helpful team- they actually replied to my emails before my stay (asking about the hotel's facilities) and were fluent in English
- There's a laundry room on the 3rd floor. (I always try to stay in a Seoul hotel with a laundrette so that I can travel lighter.) The coin exchange machine accepts 1000/5000 won, laundry detergent is 1000 won, and laundry and drying are 3000 won each.
Just note that:
- the rooms at Courtyard by Marriott don't seem to have individually controlled AC. I've seen reviews that said they were too hot (something I agreed with, even in fall.)
- the corridors have no AC and VERY dim lighting.
- some rooms are in front of the railway track, so you can't open the window.
- it is relatively pricey for Suwon
- it is not walking distance to Hwaseong Fortress- you will need to take a taxi in (inexpensive.)
As is common in Korea, the Courtyard by Marriott bathroom did not have a shower curtain to separate the shower area from the dry area (resulting in the entire bathroom becoming wet after showering.)

Four Points Sheraton (4.5 ***** on Google)
A 441 square foot room at Four Points Sheraton Suwon was the same price at Marriot, but you don't get the shopping malls outside. (The surrounding area felt a bit less vibrant than the area around Courtyard.)
When I checked prices, Four Points Sheraton Suwon was the 2nd most expensive hotel on this list of Suwon hotels and reminded me me of Fairfield Marriott at Songdo Busan.
I felt that the Four Points Sheraton Suwon rooms weren't as nice as Courtyard, but the common areas looked better (e.g. there is a small rooftop pool.) Both are not walking distance of Hwaseong fortress.
One of my favorite things about the Four Points Sheraton Suwon hotel is that it is within walking distance of Wolhwawon Garden, a beautiful, traditional Chinese-style garden famous as a K-drama filming location (Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo) Near Hyowon Park,
Novotel Ambassador Suwon (4.3 ***** on Google/ #2 Traveller Ranked on TripAdvisor)
Novotel Suwon is a 287 room, 4 star hotel also has central AC. (There are reviews about the rooms being too warm, but windows can be opened.)
The best thing (in my opinion) about Novotel Suwon is the direct access to the Suwon KTX train station, Suwon subway stations & a department store.
One side of the hotel faces the city whilst the other faces the railway.
Ramada Plaza by Wyndham Suwon (4.2 ***** on Google/ #1 Traveller Ranked on TripAdvisor)
Ramada Plaza hotel also has a centralized and controlled climate system.
I opted not to go for it due to some of the reviews.
