If you're looking for hotels in Seoul with a Kitchen, this is the list for you, based on the experience of my 10 trips to South Korea. Whilst eating out in Seoul doesn't have to be expensive, it can be hard to find vegan food due to the use of fish sauce etc in Korean cuisine. In addition, restaurants in Asia are less familiar with life-threatening allergies, so you may need a kitchen to prep your own dishes if you have allergies.
If you're looking for a list of the best hotels in Seoul with a kitchen, you're in luck! My top choice is Fraser Place Central Seoul Residence (great location and facilities, 24h front desk etc) but scroll down for the full list, including what's good and bad about each place.
Unfortunately, there don't seem to be any 5-star/ luxury hotels in Seoul with kitchens (at this point in time)- the closest is probably the 4-star hotel Voco Seoul Gangnam -but some of the options on this list are quite comfortable!
Near MyeongDong
Fraser
- Excellent location: 780m from Namdaemun Market and one bus stop to Seoul Station (very convenient if you plan to take the KTX to Busan)
- You can take Airport Limo Bus 6005 from Incheon International Airport to the front of the hotel
- 24-hour front desk
- Dog-friendly
- Washer-dryer with detergent provided
- Next to Coffee Bean & Burger King, with CU convenience store 2-3 minutes way
- Renovated in 2016
- Staff fluent in English (for Korea)
- Besides the kitchen (in the apartment), there's also an on-site restaurant, pool, fitness center and hot tub/ sauna
- Free Parking
For those traveling with people with mobility issues, this residence is wheelchair accessible. If you want to walk directly to a subway station, the walk to Seodaemun station (under 10 minutes) is smoother than to Seoul station (so easier to push a wheelchair or your luggage bag.)
Fraser Place Central Seoul Residence is about 20 minutes walk from Myeongdong, so you're close enough to walk to, say the Sulwhasoo Spa at Lotte Hotel and Myeongdong Kyoja (about 20 minutes), but you get a bit more privacy from the hordes of tourists.
Like a hotel, it provides shampoo, conditioner, soap, moisturizer, 24hour front desk, pol and gym etc, but you get the convenience of a kitchen in your unit! Note that you'll need a swimming cap to use the pool (which is common in Korea.)
This residence has 2 entrances- use the one at the back if you need more time to get in/ out of the taxi, as there's less traffic that way, and you'll feel less stressed!
WecoStay MyeongDong
- Great location: convenient but you get to see more of a local hood (vs staying inside the tourist hotspot, Myeongdong)
- Washer + Dryer with detergent provided
- Detergent provided
- Airport Bus drops you close by
- 7-11 across the road
- No daily housekepping
- You need to buy your own rubbish bags for general ways
- And sort out your own Recyclables
- Building is located behind the main road
- Only has 1 bedroom apartments (not large but big enough to fit a sofa and the kitchen counter)
Wecostay Myeongdong is located fairly close to Myeongdong Shopping Street, but not right smack in the middle of it. (About 1 subway station or 3 bus stops away from Myeongdong Station.)
Address: 14 Changgyeonggung-ro 1-gil, Jung-gu, 하늘n 206호, Myeong-dong, Seoul, South Korea, 04558
Wecostay Chungmuro
- Good location
- Washing machine
- Newer residence
- 30 seconds to 7-11
- No Parking
Wecostay Chungmuro is one of the newer residences on this list and has 3 types of rooms. Like Wecostay Myeongdong, it's also close to Myeondgong (about 15-20 minutes on foot.)
Address: #206, 14, Changgyeonggung-ro 1-gil, Jung-gu, Seoul, Republic of Korea
Near InsaDong
Orakai Insadong Suites
- Excellent location
- Large Rooms, with a variety of apartment sizes (Good for families)
- Washing Machine + Iron
- DVD player
- BUT can have issues with AC/ heating
- And quite dated
This hotel has 1-4 bedroom apartments (+ penthouse) with kitchens (or kitchenettes) for rent. Rooms are spacious (for Seoul.) It also has some similar facilities to a hotel, such as a 24 hour front desk, indoor pool, sauna, and fitness centre.
It's located in the heart of Insadong, about 10 minutes from Jogyesa Temple and walking distance to Bukchon Village. For days when you don't want to cook, there are numerous eateries and restaurants around it.
However, note that the AC (and heating system) is centrally controlled, which can be an issue in the summer! (Korean summers get very hot and humid- it's not so bad in early June but come July...- here's what you'll need to bring in summer to Korea for a comfortsable stay! Personally, I would not stay here during the hot months!)
Address: 18, Insadong 4-gil, Jongno-gu, Jongno-Gu, 03163 Seoul, South Korea
Gangnam
Voco Seoul Gangnam
- Good location (IF you want to be based in Gangnam. If not, Jung-gu and Jongno-gu are generally more convenient for tourists.)
- 4 star hotel (fairly newly built)
- Has a bar on site
- 24 hour fitness center
- Room service available
- Has a car park
Unlike the previous hotels, you do not get a kitchen or washer-dryer in your room at Voco Seoul Gangnam. Instead, there is a kitchen and laundrette on each floor, so it's good for people looking for more of a communal experience. (Sort of like an upmarket hostel?)
Located very close to Garosu-gil, where you'll find tons of shops such as Olive Young with many restaurants nearby, this would be 2nd choice for a hotel in Seoul with a kitchen after Fraser Place Central Seoul Residence (tied with Oakwood COEX actually!)
Oakwood Premier COEX Center
- 5-star hotel
- Has a range of rooms from studio to 4 bedroom and penthouse
- Good location with direct underground passage to Hyundai Department Store (and Supermarket)
- Kitchen and washer-dryer
- On site ATM, spa, and wellness center
- On site pool and golf course
- Free car park for hotel guests (but it can be hard to find a space)
- Daily housekeeping and grocery delivery can be arranged
- 2 pets allowed per room if under 22 lb (pet deposit required)
Oakwood COEX is located next to COEX and Starfield Library- a decent location but not as good as Voco Seoul Gangnam if you want to shop, in my opinion. I wasn't very impressed by the shops in COEX underground mall though it is convenient for restaurants etc.
It has a variety of apartments: a little pricey if you're a single person (about 290,000 KRW (approximately US$290) but not too bad for larger families (e.g. a 2-bed apartment is about KRW450,000- that's cheaper than a single room at Lotte Hotel Executive Tower!)
This is a good place for a longer stay, and they even have shuttle bus services twice a month (to the supermarket and tourist attractions such as Namdaemun.) Similarly, there are 2 classes a month for hotel guests, such as cooking and crafts, at Oakwood COEX.
Address: 46, Teheran-ro 87-gil, Gangnam-gu, Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea, 6164
Near Konkuk University
The Classic 500 Pentaz Executive Residence
- 5 star hotel
- 3 minutes walk to Lotte Department Store, with restaurants and cafes nearby
- Washing machine, rice cooker, and microwave
- On site sauna, outdoor pool (fee to use for both) and restaurant
- Free to use fitness center
- Does not allow pets
- Note that there is no bathtub (which is common in Korean hotels)
- Furniture somewhat dated
For those who don't mind staying outside of central Seoul, there's also The Classic 500 Pentaz Executive Residence. This 5-star hotel is close to Lotte Department Store and Konkuk University.
Address: 90, Neungdong-ro, Gwangjin-gu, Gwangjin-Gu, 05065 Seoul, South Korea
